The National Collegiate Honors Conference has proved a positive experience for St. Norbert students who have attended it in recent years. Not only does the conference offer them with a unique opportunity to network and collaborate; but it also gives them the chance to compete. Colin Dassow, one of the students sent by St. Norbert to the conference, was particularly successful in the competition last year. Dassow submitted his research as a part of the poster competition which evaluates students from across the country. His poster, titled “Cannibalism in Largemouth Bass, Micropterus salmoides: Three Decade Record from a Small North Temperate Lake" received the highest marks in the area of Natural Sciences and Mathematics. Not only did Dassow receive an award for his exceptional research, but he was able to enhance his presentation skills in the process of doing so. This year, four SNC honors students are poised to compete in the poster presentation portion of the NCHC to be held in Seattle, Washington. With any luck, and a considerable amount of hard work, these students will find success just as Dassow did representing St. Norbert.
