Phi Kappa Phi: Upcoming Fellowship Deadlines
Hello and welcome back to another edition of "My Phi Kappa Phi" in the Honors Pulse! To start off, we’d like to present to you the story of Katie Flesch, Class of 2016. Katie wrapped up her time at St. Norbert College this past May with a Bachelor’s in Biology in her hands and a wonderful future ahead. Lucky enough for her, she already knew where she was headed in her Life After SNC (see what I did there, Honors Students?): UW-Madison! A prestigious university indeed. Katie also went on to accepted into Madison School of Pharmacy and began a part-time job as an inpatient pharmacy technician at the UW Hospital! When describing her current situation, Katie said, “I just really like being in the fast-pace hospital environment.” And how couldn’t she? Katie worked her way through the Honors Program here at SNC and was an outstanding member in our chapter of Phi Kappa Phi, so working hard comes naturally to her!
So, you may be asking yourself, why tell us the story of Katie post-SNC? Well, Katie’s story should sound especially interesting to you once you hear that she received a $5,000 scholarship from Phi Kappa Phi to help her with graduate school! Each year the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi awards fifty-one Fellowships of $5,000 each and six at $15,000 each to members entering a first year of graduate or professional study. The St. Norbert College chapter will select one candidate from among our local applicants to compete for the society-wide awards. Phi Kappa Phi members interested in applying for a Fellowship of their own should contact Phi Kappa Phi Officer Stacey Wanta for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now the task is yours to contact Stacey Wanta and begin learning how you can apply for a Fellowship award! This is a tremendous opportunity for any of our members that have their sights set on graduate school. As we wrap up this edition of My Phi Kappa Phi, we leave you with a few things: firstly, a picture of Katie who we want to wish the very best of luck and a hearty congratulations once more for all of her hard work at and beyond SNC! Secondly, an informative timetable that provides multiple important due dates and deadlines for various scholarship opportunities. The Fellowship is a wonderful award to receive, but there are plenty out there, so don’t apply for just one!
