"During my last year at SNC, I spent a lot of time researching programs for teaching abroad. I enjoy teaching, but I crave the adventure of living in foreign countries as well. The JET program accepted me in March, two months before I graduated, so at the end of July I headed over to Japan. I'm currently teaching at Inokuchi High School in Hiroshima. Though I don't get to teach as much as I wish I could at this school (I team teach over 300 first-year students, so I don't see the same students very often), I am working hard to teach the students in other ways by making an English bulletin board, leading the "English Speaking Society" club after school, and speaking with students whenever possible. They may be shy, but whenever my students find the courage to come talk to me, it brightens my whole day! Nevertheless, I yearn for a more challenging job, so I am currently using any spare time to search for my next step in life. I am applying to DoDEA, which would involve teaching at an American school on a US military base abroad, but I am also considering going back to school (in Europe because it's cheaper!) to study environmental science."
We admire Teagan’s desire to get out and see the world, while connecting with others and sharing her passion for education and science in the process. We wish her nothing but the best in all of the many exciting opportunities that lie ahead!
