Post-SNC Update:
“After graduating from SNC, I moved to Milwaukee where I attended the Medical College of Wisconsin. I graduated from MCW in 2013 with my MD. While there, I married my wife, Elizabeth Newgent, who is also a 2009 SNC alum. During medical school, I also joined the U.S. Air Force on their Health Professions Scholarship. After graduation from MCW, we moved to Omaha, Nebraska where I completed my Family Medicine residency at Offutt Air Force Base, which is a joint Family Medicine residency with the University of Nebraska Medical Center, where I served as Chief Resident. Completing residency in 2016, my family and I were assigned to Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where we have lived ever since. I am currently providing medical care to active duty military service members, their families, and military retirees at both Peterson Air Force Base and at Fort Carson, an Army base in Colorado Springs.
“Being in the Air Force has given me many different opportunities, including providing medical care in different countries. In March 2017, I had the opportunity to work with several other Air Force physicians in providing two weeks of medical care in a remote area of Dominican Republic, which was an interesting and rewarding experience. Liz and I have been very blessed and now have three young girls, Madeline (5), Alice (2), and Clare (5 months), who keep us very busy. We are enjoying opportunities to hike, ski, and spend time outdoors in the mountains of Colorado. My years at SNC and in the honors program were very rewarding and laid the foundation for many of the academic and personal opportunities that have come my way since graduation. I am very excited about the partnership between SNC and MCW and hope to have the opportunity to contribute to that partnership in the future.”
