Dinner at the President’s House
Recently, a unique opportunity was presented to all first-year students in the St. Norbert College Honors Program. On Monday, April 9th, first-year Honors students were invited to attend dinner with the President of St. Norbert College in his own home. This special event is a long-held tradition offered to all first-year Honors Program students each year, and it is always a wonderful time filled with great food, laughs, and fun!
This year, I was among the fortunate group of first-year honors students to attend this event, and I can honestly say that it was one of my favorite experiences at SNC thus far. President Brian Bruess and his wife Carol kindly welcomed all of us into their beautiful home, and from the minute I stepped in, I felt welcomed and excited to talk with my fellow honors classmates, as well as the President and his wife.
After helping ourselves to an amazing meal, it was wonderful to sit down, relax, and talk with one another. President Bruess and his wife showed us around their house, shared stories, asked about our hometowns and areas of study, and were genuinely interested in how our semesters were going at our new home of St. Norbert College. This event may sound rather ordinary, however, I believe it was very special, and it has definitely been one of my most memorable experiences at St. Norbert College. Besides having the amazing opportunity to meet President Brian Bruess and his wife, Carol Bruess, it was wonderful to be in the presence of the Honors Program “family” of first year students. This event helped me recognize how close I have grown to all that were present and how blessed I am to be a part of such a unique program.
I am positive that in speaking for all other first-year Honors students who attended this wonderful dinner, we are all extremely thankful to President Brian Bruess and Carol Bruess for inviting us into their home and making us feel continually welcomed as students at St. Norbert College.
