To say that student staff members are important to the Honors Program is a serious understatement! Contributions from this amazing group of talented individuals not only ensure smooth daily function of the Program, but the feedback, inspiration, and enthusiasm they provide is a driving force behind successful programming and outreach. Comprised of a Student Programming Coordinator, Marketing Assistant, two Social Media Specialists, an Honors Fellow, and Student Office Assistant, they work tirelessly to support programs benefiting current members. Oh, and they have a little fun along the way.
STUDENT PROGRAMMING COORDINATOR - ELISHA JAEKE, '20
Elisha Jaeke, a third-year from Hartford, WI, is so excited to return as a staff writer for the Honors Pulse! This is her third year working within the Honors Center, but she is new to the position of Honors Programming Coordinator and is enthusiastic to continue contributing to program events and initiatives. Elisha also serves as the college’s Newman Civic Fellow, a Class of 2020 Representative for the Student Government Association, the recruitment coordinator for the American Medical Student Association, and a Biology TA. She is also involved in the International Medicine TRIPS Program, Her Voice Rocks camp, and is working to expand campus-wide resources for first generation college students like herself. Additionally, she volunteers at the Casa ALBA Melanie Hispanic Resource Center, the Boys and Girls Club, and Camp HOPE. Elisha loves to travel, having just returned from a semester abroad in Quito, Ecuador.
SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST - JOSHUA BREGGER, '19
Joshua Bregger is a senior at St. Norbert College originally from Waukesha, WI and pursuing a Geology major and a Philosophy minor with the dream of one day becoming a Volcanologist (that's a person who studies the fiery and explosive volcanoes, not the "live long and prosper" Vulcans of Star Trek). Joshua is involved with many different groups on campus such as Geology Club, BIG, and a club I created here on campus called Joking Hazard: An SNC Improv Comedy Club! What I love most about SNC is that everyone here is friendly. Holding doors open for people, saying "Hi" as strangers walk by, and being courteous are all great characteristics of
HONORS FELLOW - ANDREA' BOYD, '22
Andrea’ Boyd is a first year student who is new to the Honors Pulse Writing Staff. Andrea’ graduated from Tri-County High School in Plainfield, Wisconsin (don’t worry, nobody knows where it is). Andrea’ is majoring in Biology through the Pre-Medicine program in pursuit of becoming a pediatric oncologist. She is so excited to be writing for the Honors Pulse and showcasing just how extraordinary the Honors Program and alumni here at Saint Norbert College are! As a first year, Andrea’ is serving as the Honors Program Research Fellow where she will be contacting alumni to broaden the connections with the Honors Program. She is also involved in Colleges Against Cancer, the American Medical Student Association, Pre-Health Club, and Emerging Leaders. If you’re ever looking for Andrea’ you will most likely spot her in the library, at Ed’s coffee shop (recommending the white chocolate mocha), or in the lounge at the dorm! She cannot wait to interact with both past and present students of the Honors Program while taking on all the opportunities this campus has to offer!
SOCIAL MEDIA SPECIALIST -Alexandra Paleka, '19
Alexa Paleka is a junior from Burlington, WI studying Communication & Media Studies and a Spanish Language Certificate at St. Norbert College. She is a social media specialist for the Honors Program, assisting the office coordinator with its social media accounts, honors programming, and the Honors Pulse newsletter. Alexa has taken her involvement in honors--as well as background in publishing and research conference presenting--to the next level, serving as a student editor of the NCHC’s Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity online journal.. Alexa joined the Honors Program, because she knew it would fit her needs as both a person and student by providing additional opportunities for growth and career development, deeper learning, and a welcoming community of like-minded people.
MARKETING ASSISTANT - Anna Lipscomb, '21
My name is Anna Lipscomb, and I am a Sophomore and the Marketing Assistant of the Honors Program here at SNC. As the marketing assistant, I aid Stacey Wanta and the Honors team in their marketing efforts for the program. This includes boosting awareness and promotion of the program through social media, as well as creating a strong brand identity through content and graphic design. This is my second year working for the Honors Office, and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. The Honors office team feels like a close knit family, and it really reinforces our program’s values of striving for greatness (and of course, communio)! Working for the Honors Office has given me countless opportunities that I would not otherwise have, and has shown me a whole new side to the Honors Program.
OFFICE ASSISTANT - Annie Yamamoto, '22
Annie is a first year student at SNC! She's from Hoffman Estates, Illinois, about three and a half hours away from De Pere, but she actually grew up in Orlando, Florida! She is an English Education major and a Theatre Studies minor. As an office assistant, she oversees all honors involvement and promotes the fine arts activities. She's involved with Knights on Broadway, The Knightingales, and the fall play, "Almost, Maine.” She will also be in the cast of the upcoming Knight Theatre J-Term musical, "The Addams Family". This year, she looks forward to further exploring the Honors program as well as other aspects of the campus community.
